Goodbye Hugo, Hello Zola
I haven't updated this site for over six years. I decided to renew it and start fresh, but I eventually gave up on Hugo due to compatibility issues. I took this opportunity to try migrating to Zola, but I couldn't quite get the hang of it and shelved the project for over a month. Today, I'm giving it another shot.
But first, a server update. This time, I migrated from Ubuntu to NixOS. I struggled with the installation since the machine only has 1GB of RAM, but it has been extremely smooth since then. Unlike Ubuntu, NixOS doesn't install anything unnecessary by default, so the boot time is noticeably faster.
I also switched my editor back to Emacs for the first time in over 20 years. My current usage ratio is roughly 2:8 for Neovim versus Emacs. I've completely abandoned VSCode. I built this site using Emacs, and I'm writing this post in it as well. (To be precise, it's Doom Emacs.)
With the help of Gemini 3.0 Pro, I finished editing the Zola theme in about three hours. I even managed to create an SNS-style page while I was at it.
